Cloak and Dinner

Spread the love

While browsing Facebook earlier, I noticed that one of my Bristol-based friends was attending an event called “Cloak and Dinner”. Intrigued, I clicked on the link and immediately wished I hadn’t…

These guys describe themselves as “The Temporary Rebel Restaurant in Bristol”…”a Bristol-based collective of amateur and professional chefs, waiter/esses, bartenders, artists, actors and creatives, inspired by food and disappointed by the pretence and price-tag necessary for a great eating-out experience in Bristol.”

Sounds fantastic. The reason that I wish I HADN’T clicked on the link is that their upcoming event is fully booked. For four nights late this month, they’ll be transforming a disused Bristol building into a guerilla restaurant where “food is priced at what you want to pay and “staff” work not for money but are driven by their creative passion for food.”

Apparently they’ll be running further events in the future though – and they MAY take more bookings on the door, so it’s worth checking back. If you’re a Facebook user, search for “Cloak and Dinner”, or check out their WordPress blog here:

Hi Em and Al, fellow food bloggers based in Bristol

I am privileged to be part of the Cloak and Dinner crew, and plan to give a report on my Real Food Lover blog.

So far we have gathered professional chefs, Maitre d', lots of willing helpers, donated veg, some equipment, bags of enthusiasm and soon, very soon, …premises.

    Keep in touch
