Pancake Day @ The Thali Café, March 8th

Spread the love

Not long to go till Shrove Tuesday…but if you’re not keen on the idea of the White Bear’s pancake eating competition and you don’t fancy cooking traditional pancakes at home, join the Thali Café for their unique take on the occasion…

No lemon and sugar here – The Thali will be serving the South Indian speciality, Masala Dosas. Made from rice batter and black lentils, these large pancakes tend to be eaten savoury for lunch and dinner. The dosa is the pancake itself: Masala Dosas describe a dish where the dosa is stuffed with a Masala-spiced potato and onion curry.

Masala Dosas are already a firm favourite on the specials board at Easton’s Thali Café, but for one day only, they’ll also be available in Clifton and Totterdown, served with side dishes of Samba and coconut chutney.

If you prefer your pancakes sweet to savoury, but still want to do something different to the norm, they will also be serving Goan coconut pancakes with cinnamon and honey.
