Love Food Festival, Paintworks, Sunday May 1st

Spread the love

Head to the Love Food Festival on Sunday, May 1st between 10.30am and 4pm to celebrate May Day, their 3rd Birthday and a fantastic weekend celebration of all things British! What better way to do that than meet up with friends and family at this fantastic food loving celebration?

The market will be heaving with gorgeous, local, seasonal produce for you to enjoy – speak directly to the people that grew or made the products and get recipe ideas, inspiration and the knowledge that every penny you spend goes back in to the local economy. Highlights include delicious local strawberries from Dean Rise, gorgeous goats’ cheeses from Whitelake, Stunning sausages from The Sausage Fest, fab sauces from Woodchester Fine Foods and of course The Storecupboard’s famous pork pies!

Glenholme Herbs will be taking over the small courtyard with their stunning array of culinary and medicinal herbs and salads for your garden, they all come free with fantastic advice from the growers themselves!

As always, there’ll be loads for children to do, Ooodle Doodle will be on hand with some great workshops including crown making, seed planting, decorate your own shopping bag, face painting, seed bombs and games. The super cool kids clothing ‘Milk and Cereal’ brand run by local lady Jo Simmons features some of the city’s biggest graffiti names and will be re-launching at the event, ably assisted by the very talented Paris who’ll be painting a live mural which will then be auctioned off. Funds will go towards the continued restoration and preservation of Arnos Vale, a major green space within our city and an amazing resource for children and adults alike to learn about and be enthused by nature.

Andy Hamilton, local author and wild food expert will be leading a FREE walk from Love Food around Arnos Vale and teaching people of all ages about which plants you can eat, their benefits, how to harvest, preserve and enjoy this wonderfully abundant free food available to us at this time of year.

With The Bristol Cider Shop keeping us all watered with their super array of local cider, the Cotswold Edge BBQ, ‘Ivor’s magnificent Knickerbocker Glory Bar’, afternoon tea with Matilda Says and The Bristol Tea Company, the music playing and hopefully the sun shining, Sundays don’t come much better than this, especially when you have a day off the next day!!

Lorna Knapman, Love Food organiser, says, “I’m thrilled to have reached the third anniversary of Love Food, It’s been an incredible journey, and I hope everyone has enjoyed attending them as much as I’ve enjoyed organising them! With more events planned for June 12th in Bath at Green Park Station and July 17th at Paintworks I’m hoping Love Food will continue to bring this fantastic, food loving crowd together for many years to come!”
