Crowdsourcing, charity and cooking all rolled into one…buy a unique cookbook composed of 140 character text-based recipes all sourced from Twitter, with every penny from the sale of the books going to charity FoodCycle…

FoodCycle is an expanding charity, combining young volunteers, surplus food and free kitchen space to create positive changes in communities all over the UK. The charity works with teams of volunteers who take perfectly edible surplus foods from supermarkets, which would otherwise have gone to waste, and turn these into meals for those in need in the community. FoodCycle currently serves 15 locations in the UK, including their hub in Bristol – their first ever out-of-London locations.

It was cooker manufacturer Belling who first came up with the idea for the book of “twecipes” – hundreds of recipes tweeted in 140 characters or under were collected and narrowed down by a panel of food experts to a book containing 50 recipes. You’ll find starters, mains, desserts, snacks and drinks – including dishes such as the Mug Cake (“Mix in a mug: 2T flour, 4t sugar, 1/4t baking powder, 2t cocoa, pinch salt, 2T milk, 1/4t vanilla, 3/4t oil. Microwave 1 min.”)

You can buy the charity cookbook for just £4.99 (including free delivery) from eBay – simply click this link to purchase, and all proceeds will go to FoodCycle, to enable them to further build on their success with local communities across the country – including Bristol. A great price, a great cause – buy now!
