Bristol food company Piri Piri Corner, which already has a restaurant in Stapleton, has invested £120,000 in opening a second branch on the Clifton Triangle.

Professional boxer and former world champion in the super middleweight category, Glenn Catley, cut the ribbon at the VIP launch event to declare the restaurant officially open.

Piri Piri Corner brings the authentic taste of Piri Piri Portuguese cuisine, which uses the Pili Pili chilli, to the UK.

The chillies were first introduced the Portuguese settlers in Mozambique who began to use it in their own daily cooking, and today Portugal is known for its Piri Piri sauce. Piri Piri Corner offers this spicy sauce on much of its menu from its burgers to its chicken and wraps. You can see a full menu here.

Piri Piri owners Janad Raja and Shabir Hussain are excited about investing in such difficult economic times, and plan further ventures over the coming year.

Janad said: “We are a family business that has spent £120,000 on the building and the restaurant and are delighted to be investing in Bristol, while so many other businesses are closing down.

“Our first chain has been a huge success and we are therefore looking to build upon this achievement by launching a new venue every six months around Bristol and Bath.

“This is an exciting time for the business and in a time of recession this is a very positive opening for Piri Piri Corner.”

  1. Just got back from using a voucher through deal cloud for the mixed platter, paid £8 for it and was actually worth £16.99.
From the moment we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly team of staff, who took our order and told us to take a seat, the seating area was spotless. fifteen mins later out came the platter it was huge, enough for four without a doubt! There were only two of us and we ploughed our way through the mound of food. It was fantastic on par with nandos but better value, went for the medium option the chicken was great, salad fresh and the rice was perfect! Thank you Clifton branch we will be back again without a doubt. The only thing I can have a niggle about is that the platter should be served with spoons instead of plastic forks as it was difficult to eat the yummy spicy rice! Good luck with the business I'm sure based on our visit it will be an absolute success!
