Celebrity Chef Martin Blunos, Chris Wicks (Bells Diner) and Toby Gritten (The Pumphouse) got together to ‘wow’ Bristol Audi customers with culinary pyrotechnics at the launch on Thursday, September 20th.

Catering and Hospitality students from the college were given the opportunity to assist in the preparation and serving of canapés comprising a scallop starter by Wicks and a Carpaccio of venison main by Gritten.  Guests also enjoyed Blunos’ trademark two Michelin star pre-dessert of Boiled Egg and Soldiers (egg yolk: think mangoes, soldiers: think shortbread) served in an egg cup, in a real egg shell to boot!

Martin Blunos said:

“There was a terrific buzz at the event and the College team really came up trumps – It is great to see such fantastic young talent coming out of Bristol!”

The chefs also had to complete a very entertaining omelette challenge at the start of their demo. This involved trying to beat the cabriolet roof of an Audi R8 Spider being electronically opened and then closed again (which takes just 30 seconds) – Only Blunos beat the car so Audi won 2:1!

The Chefs  gave live demonstrations of the same dishes on a stage and kitchen provided by Nailsea Electrical – another Chefs’ Forum sponsor.

Catherine Farinha, Chefs’ Forum Coordinator stated:

“Bristol Audi has sponsored The Chefs’ Forum since its inception for which we are really grateful. It was a real honour to be asked to event-manage the launch of the new A3 and showcase the work we do in linking catering colleges to top chefs and quality suppliers.  All top quality ingredients used in the demos and canapés were sourced from local suppliers.”

Grant O’Hara (Presenter, Audi TV) gave technical demonstrations of the new A3, which is now 80kg lighter and has obviously not been indulging in the great restaurants of the Bristol Chefs’ Forum.

Bristol Audi work with The Chefs’ Forum to demonstrate excellence in customer service, a value which the brand shares with our top restaurants.

Steve Smith, Head of Business at Bristol Audi commented:

“We send our customers to Chefs’ Forum member restaurants so they can experience a great product and excellent service. We assimilate this experience with the Audi brand values of a quality product with first class customer service”.

The Chefs’ Forum looks forward to working with Bristol Audi well into the future.
