Taking place between May 24 and 26 2014, the River Cottage Food Fair sees the annual Spring and Autumn fairs combined into one fantastic show that is sure to whet the appetite of any food fan! And even better, Bristol Bites has two pairs of tickets for the event to give away…

Experience a taste of the River Cottage life at the Axminster, Devon-based farm with cookery demos, hands-on cooking masterclasses, English wine tastings, wild food forays and growing tips. You’ll also be able to enjoy live music on the Saturday and Sunday evenings.

New for this year will be the presence of street food vendors to tantalise your taste buds, as well as River Cottage fare. There will be plenty going on, including…

Food Marquee Enjoy informative and entertaining cookery demos from a host of River Cottage experts plus talks from food and wine experts all in the surrounds of a buzzing marquee filled with foodie delights!

Familiar Faces John Wright will be bringing the hedgerows to life with his seasonal foraging tips and rustling up some seasonal cocktails. Gill Meller will be extolling the virtues of using fruit in your repertoire, Steven Lamb will give you his take on curing meat at home and you can learn about wild foods with Tim Maddams.

Master classes This year there will be a chance to join John Wright on mini forays, get wine tasting and choose from a selection of cooking masterclasses.

Kid’s activities Enjoy falconry displays, hula-hooping, hands-on crafts, cookery classes, country games, get face-painted or roll around in a zorb. Your little ones will certainly be entertained.

Booze New this year you can sample drinks made in the UK, including a selection of English wines to celebrate National English Wine Week. And don’t miss out on the new River Cottage beers.

Music Join the party! Hoedown collective ‘Cut a Shine’ are headlining on Saturday night and afro funk band ‘Papa Le Gal’ on Sunday night you can get on down for a bit of a boogie.

Rural crafts/Farmers market Meet some of River Cottage’s favourite local suppliers, try some delicious samples and pick up some tasty tips and treats to take home. Watch them at work, be it grain milling, knife carving, hurdle making or wool spinning.

Gardening Advice Ensure a bumper harvest with advice from the River Cottage Garden team and buy some heritage plants from the market.

Book Signings Get your favourite books signed or pick up Hugh’s latest book.

Explore behind the scenes at River Cottage HQ Walk around the farm, meet the animals, wander the gardens and see the farmhouse where the filming takes place.

 

Saturday and Sunday tickets are priced at £10, which includes live music in the evenings, while Monday tickets are £7.50 each, with under-12s going free. Weekend tickets are also available for £22 per person – and in March, the full programme will be announced, which gives you the chance to purchase places at additional cookery workshops and tastings.
