BrewDog Pieminister Pies

Legendary British pie makers Pieminister have joined forces with BrewDog to create a pair of pies using two of the Scottish craft beer company’s most popular beers. BrewDog’s 5am Saint and Punk IPA beers come high in the list of ingredients in both pies, available in Pieminister shops and BrewDog’s UK bars nationwide.

Unveiled as nameless pies at BrewDog’s recent AGM in Aberdeen, the shareholders (or punks), well-known for speaking out, were asked to come up with names. The companies also threw the task out to a wider audience via BrewDog’s social media channels. Suggestions (and praise) for the pies poured in and both brands are proud to launch:

The moodog. Based on Pieminister’s classic style, this pie is a rich concoction of British beef and free range British smoked bacon slow-cooked in a full-bodied 5am Saint Ale gravy. Served hot at the bar, this pie is an all-rounder, to be enjoyed with anything your BrewDog bartender recommends (5am Saint is an obvious choice). Get this pie at Pieminister shops and BrewDog bars in Aberdeen, Newcastle and Nottingham as well as DogTap, BrewDog’s brand new brewery tap in Ellon.

The chick n’ hop. Loosely-based on Pieminister’s topless pie recipe, this BrewDog exclusive is best served chilled over the bar. Made with free range British chicken, free range British ham and West Country cheddar, you’ll get a good hit of Punk IPA from your first bite. Enjoy this with an ice-cold pint of Dead Pony Club at any BrewDog bar or Pieminister shop across the UK.

Jon Simon, Pieminister founder and MD, says “BrewDog has shaken up the British brewery industry, making beers ‘for the people, by the people’. We like what they stand for and knew that if we gave BrewDog’s shareholders some pies to taste, rate and name, they wouldn’t mince their words. Luckily for us, the pies went down a storm and the punks have given them their blessing. Now you can try them too, with your favourite BrewDog beer!”

Pieminister is known for reinventing the great British pie for a younger crowd, largely through its reputation as a (food) headline act at the UK’s top music festivals. Pieminister is the UK’s only national pie brand to use 100% free range British meat and is responsible for introducing the British public to household names such as the Heidi, Matador and Chicken of Aragon.
