Replacing Do’ Lii coffee at 208 Cheltenham Road (under the arches), The Library opened its doors to the public for the first time on August 8th. Their target market, they say, is anyone who “loves wine, is interested by wine or wants to challenge their taste buds with our wine flights.”

The Library is owned and run by two sisters – Louise and Sarah – who have always dreamed of opening their own place, even from a very young age. Says Louise, “During school and university we both worked at Zizzi in Cheltenham and got posted in Bristol too as waitresses and then managers. When Sarah graduated in 2010 she joined PwC in Bristol and qualified last year as an accountant. When I graduated in 2012 I joined Whitbread, knowing that the only industry I’d ever felt a thrill for was hospitality and worked my way up from receptionist to restaurant manager within a year, opening my first hotel in December last year.”

“With that background we felt that it was a now or never leap of faith and therefore when this property came up on Cheltenham Road we decided to go for it knowing we would always regret it if we didn’t!”

Louise and Sarah encourage people to visit to test their tastebuds and try something that will take them out of their wine comfort zone. They are offering wine flights with three complimenting (or diverse) wines that they hope will help people to learn a little bit about those wines that they enjoy.

Open every day except Monday from 12pm, The Library boasts a diverse range of wines from around the world. To find out more about them, visit their website, follow them on Twitter or find them on Facebook.
