Matt Gillan, Michelin-starred chef at The Pass at South Lodge, West Sussex, will be in Bristol at Feast with a Chef on Saturday 22nd November.

Feast with a Chef is a series of regular pop-ups by top chefs in village halls around Bristol whose aim is to bring fine dining to a wider audience in a relaxed and informal setting. Guests sit at long tables, getting the chance to meet others in their neighbourhood and feel part of a community.

For his ‘Gourmet Winter Feast’, Matt will prepare a four-course dinner which will include a range of seasonal ingredients, some of them quite unusual. A local producer will be joining the event to speak briefly about one of the Feast’s special ingredients.

Feast with a Chef is organised by Bristol-based food writer Clare Hargreaves with the aim of offering ‘fine dining without the starch’. “High-end restaurants can often be rather formal and intimidating, so it’s nice to be able to bring top chefs and their amazing cooking to the more relaxed setting of a village hall”, she says. “Many people get to taste food that they might never otherwise experience.” Feast with a Chef has been mentioned in Olive magazine’s blog and features in the current issue of BBC Good Food.

Previous feasts have included a ‘Foraged Feast’ prepared by David Everitt-Matthias, 2-Michelin-starred chef-patron of Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham; an ‘Endangered Foods Feast’ cooked by Michelin-starred Richard Davies from The Bybrook at The Manor House, Castle Combe, featuring foods that if we don’t eat we might lose, and 2-Michelin-starred Michael Wignall at The Latymer, Pennyhill Park in Surrey, prepared a ‘Gourmet Halloween Feast’.

Tickets for Matt Gillan’s ‘Gourmet Winter Feast’ are priced at £42 per person for a four-course dinner plus coffee and homemade sweets. They are bookable in advance through www.feastwithachef.co.uk.
