An enterprising group of artists and craftspeople have got together to help run a weekly Christmas market in Stokes Croft. The group organises Market at the Moon in the Full Moon pub on a not-for-profit basis with the aim of promoting talented local artisans and producers, giving them an outlet for their products.

Market founder Rosie McLay said: “As an artist myself, I understand how hard it can be to compete against the high-street stores, which I why I wanted to set up a market to help local small businesses grow. It’s been great working with a group of like-minded people to get the market up and running – we each have different skills which we bring to the table. We are more excited than ever about this season and the planned events. The market has grown from a few traders to a family of vendors devoted to offering locally-sourced products to the people of Bristol.”

This year Market at the Moon will have even more traders and treats for a weekly Christmas market. Running every Saturday & Sunday in December from 12-6, visitors can expect the finest in Bristol-made crafts, produce, food, fashion and vintage wares, offered in the grounds of the famous Full Moon bar and hostel, with its extensive menu and array of bars with undercover seating. Visitors can also enjoy live music and workshops, bringing the heart of Stokes Croft to life in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Previous vendors include Mookbox, whose hand-tooled speakers cleverly crafted from luggage caught the eye, and the ever-popular Mr Tea’s Teas, whose locally-blended infusions bolster visitors in the cold months, alongside an eclectic array of hand-painted, printed and sewn clothing.

Those wishing to trade, perform or host workshops should contact Rosie McLay on marketatthemoon@gmail.com.
