Before innovative vegetarian restaurant 1847 opens its doors to the public on October 23rd, Bristolians are invited to enter a ballot for a free three-course meal on the 21st and 22nd.

Located on St Stephen’s Street, the Bristol branch of 1847 is the third for owner Damien Davenport, who also has restaurants in Manchester and Birmingham, with Brighton also set to open soon. Named after the year in which the Vegetarian Society was formed, this modern vegetarian restaurant will serve up a range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes seven days a week for lunch and dinner, with a choice of both a la carte and tasting menus available.

Before the official opening on Friday, October 23rd, 1847 is hosting two soft launch nights, allowing diners to enjoy a three-course meal completely free of charge. Designed to train staff and to gain valuable feedback before the opening date, these nights will see up to 120 people enjoying a free meal valued at £25 per head, with drinks the only expense.

Starting from 5pm on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd October, tables of two, four and eight are available, as well as a chef’s table for ten, located within the kitchen itself. Diners will be selected via a ballot process, with all those signing up to 1847 Bristol’s newsletter via www.by1847.com having a chance to be selected. Those wishing to be selected should sign up before midday on Monday, October 19th.

Says 1847 owner Damien Davenport, “We are incredibly excited about bringing our modern vegetarian offering to Bristol, and are looking forward to welcoming our first diners during our soft launch evenings. Interest in what we are doing has already been high, and we hope to bring something a little different to the Bristol dining scene.”
