Few of you could miss Shake Wrap and Roll on the corner of Cheltenham Road and Cromwell Road. With its striking mural on the wall and colourful interior it’s been serving some great wraps for over five years. Glenn Wood has been there since the beginning, working with the previous owner to run the business, and was offered the opportunity to take it on himself after she decided to step back from ownership. “She spoke to me about closing at Christmas,” Glenn said,  “but then asked if I would like to take over the lease. I pretty much jumped at the chance!”

After a successful Kickstarter campaign to raise enough for a modest renovation and to replace some equipment, Shake Wrap and Roll reopened for business this week with a few changes to the menu such as the addition of rolls, salad boxes, smoothies and shakes and some great locally sourced coffee. Glenn has also brought down some of the prices and has introduced a new meal deal too. Everything is made in house and is bought locally with meat coming from Oxley’s on Gloucester Road and fruit and veg coming from Full Basket, a relatively new greengrocer that has opened up just 5 doors down.

Tattoo fans need not worry either as Glenn has promised to continue working with Ben Boston and Steu at The Tattoo Studio on open books days, offering hot drinks and snacks to queuers. “They’ve both been amazing with helping me get this place off the ground and I can’t thank them both enough” Glenn said.

“I’ve worked hard over the last 5 years to get this product where it needed to be. Now that the business is mine I want to show people how much it means to me. I love what I do and think that shows in the quality of the wraps. I genuinely love being a part of the community. Our clientele is so varied and I’ll always make time for anyone that comes in.”

Glenn is also looking for local artists to get in touch about displaying prints in the cafe, if interested, get in touch via the website! Find him on Twitter too.
