Game - The Lock Keeper, Keynsham

As summer moves into autumn, game season is upon us. From rabbit and venison to duck and pheasant, game’s very much on the menu at The Lock Keeper, Keynsham.

From September to November, you’ll be able to enjoy roasts and other specials which have been sourced both locally and nationally.

Specials to grace the menu include pan roasted wood pigeon with cracked wheat and red currant salad; whole roast pheasant with bread sauce, game chips and root vegetables (in the picture); rabbit and London Stout casserole; roasted venison haunch with damson sauce, watercress and game chips; and guinea fowl Kiev with mashed potato and buttered kale.

The Lock Keeper will also host a special game and wine pairing evening on Wednesday 16th November. Guests will take a whistle-stop tour through the field to fork journey of game before a preparation demonstration of venison, pigeon and partridge. The evening ends with a game dinner paired with rich red wines. Tickets are priced at £35 per person and are available directly from the pub or the pub’s website.
