We love the diversity of the independent businesses that have moved into Wapping Wharf, CARGO and CARGO 2. From a foodie point of view, there are restaurants, coffee shops, booze suppliers, a bakery, cheese, organic food and more. And now there’s quality local meat being added to the mix too, in the form of Meat Box, which opens on Thursday, November 2nd in the final two CARGO 2 units.

Meat Box is the new venture from Luke Hasell: farmer and one of the team behind Eat Drink Bristol and Valley Fest. He says, “Meat Box is all about ethically sourced meat, that’s traceable and damn tasty to boot. We will be able to provide that last-minute outdoor reared pork chop for your dinner or a hand cut and rolled organic joint for Sunday lunch or a Christmas ham like you’ve never tasted.”

He continued: “Meat Box is just that a small but perfectly formed butchers in a box.  We’ll be sourcing the best pasture fed, outdoor reared and organic meat alongside charcuterie and hams from Bristol and Somerset’s finest. You’ll be able to choose your cuts from the cold store, which has a window to Wapping Wharf.”

Customers will be able to order by email or text (website orders coming soon), and if you order before 2pm each day, you can collect your order on your way home from work. All of the meat that Meat Box will sell will be ethically and sustainably sourced from South West farms and reared for both taste and quality: expect cuts such as Barnsley lamb chops, 30-40 day dry-aged pasture-fed steaks, Sunday roast favourites, handmade organic burgers, mince and more.

Meat Box will be open from 11am to 6.30pm on November 2nd, 11am to 7pm on November 3rd, 10am to 6.30pm on November 4th and 11am to 4pm on November 5th. After that, the planned opening hours are 11am to 6.30pm Wednesday to Saturday, and from 11am to 4pm on Sundays.
