On Saturday, February 9th, Woky Fest returns for its third year to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Pig.

Hosted by Larkin Cen’s Asian eatery at CARGO at Wapping Wharf, Woky Ko, Woky Fest will feature street food, live performances and more. The University of Bristol Chinese Lion Dance Troupe will perform at Wapping Wharf at both 2pm and 7pm on the day, accompanied by the drums, cymbals and costumes of the traditional lion dance, whose aim is to bring good fortune.

Outside Woky Ko itself you’ll find a street food stall selling both sweet and sour chicken and squid cones for the occasion, along with strings of lanterns and lights to add to the festive feel. And if you’re dining at Woky Ko, the envelopes of good fortune may be lucky for you – there are chances to win a meal and other tasty prizes.

It’s not just Larkin’s Wapping Wharf venue that’s getting in on the action, either – Woky Ko: Kauto on Queens Road will be hosting a special Chinese New Year dinner on Thursday, February 7th, with the menu starring:

  • Crispy duck pancake wraps with Peking sauce, leeks and cucumber
  • Braised pork bao with apple and peanut powder
  • Salt & pepper squid
  • Rare beef onglet steak with black bean jus
  • Tenderstem broccoli with Togarashi miso and crispy shallots
  • Egg fried rice
  • Salted caramel bao.
For £27.50 a ticket, you’ll enjoy the above menu plus a glass of Prosecco on arrival – secure your spot through Wriggle.  The Chinese New Year dinner starts at 7.30pm.
To add to the festive atmosphere, you’ll even get to revisit some cinematographic favourites, as Woky Ko: Kauto will be showing classic Bruce Lee films during the evening’s event.
