Klosterhaus opens in Quakers Friars on October 2nd

On Friday, October 2nd, D&D London will be opening their new restaurant, Klosterhaus, in Quakers Friars, paying homage to the dining scene of grand mittel-European cafés.

The restaurant, bar and outdoor terraces at Klosterhaus (formerly Brasserie Blanc) will be open all day – and there’s a new interior design coming too. Expect artwork by a collection of artists from Studio 2C Art consultancy, which combines early industrial imagery with the rich colours of Renaissance and Old Masters portraits.

The food menu has been developed by D&D London’s German Gymnasium Executive Head Chef, Bjoern Wassmuth, as well as Klosterhaus Head Chef, Rhys Grayson, with Chef Bjoern’s German heritage inspiring the German and Mittel-European menu. Appetisers include soused herring with herring caviar, sweet mustard, potato and apple salad; German chicken and veal schnitzels; and sharing dishes, like a slow roasted Creedy Carver free-range duck with potato dumplings and braised red cabbage. Brunch dishes include the KH Breakfast (two eggs, Nürnberger sausage, cured crispy bacon, tomato and potato rösti, while on the dessert menu, you’ll find the likes of warm apple strudel with vanilla sauce.

Both chefs have worked closely with local suppliers, meaning that the menu will include sourdough bread from Coombeshead Bakery, beef from MeatBox, and all fish from Wing of St Mawes.

There will be a curated wine list that includes both the familiar and less familiar (plus plenty of vegan, vegetarian and organic wines), while cocktails, German beers, and local beers from Bristol Beer Factory will also be on the menu.

Klosterhaus will also feature a number of event spaces for business meetings and social events. And, to reassure those still worried about COVID-19, Klosterhaus has followed advice and guidance provided by the government, industry bodies and safety consultants and implemented relevant measures to ensure the restaurant is COVID-19 secure for both guests and its staff.
