Something exciting is coming to King’s Road, Clifton this October, when Japanese restaurant KIBOU Clifton will open its doors.

Promising their “signature range of classic and contemporary Japanese dishes”, KIBOU Clifton is opening at number 16, which was home to Nettle & Rye for the last five and a half years. Opening hours aren’t yet confirmed, but the team promises an “all-day to night-time neighbourhood hangout, equally suitable for drinks (think cocktails, beers and sake) or a Japanese feast.

It’s the third premises for the KIBOU team, with existing restaurants in London’s Battersea and in Cheltenham’s Regent Arcade. While there are different drinks menus for the two existing restaurants, the food offering appears to be the same. Sharers and small plates include everything from bao buns to handmade gyozas, while there’s also a choice of large plates, from poke bowls and noodles to katsu curries and teriyaki dishes. And then there’s the sushi, with KIBOU Clifton saying that their Volcano Rolls (“salmon, avocado and tobiko futomaki, tempura fried and served with our own house sauce”) are a must-try.

There’s even a separate kids’ menu, which makes me happy: a choice of a bento box, katsu curry, ramen or a poke bowl, along with a selection of drinks and puddings, with all of the kids’ main dishes priced at £8.
