We were intrigued, on our last visit, to see a Pieminister Pies hut on the terrace of the White Lion Bar at the Avon Gorge Hotel. As it turns out, it’s now a regular fixture. Visitors to the bar can now enjoy a pie from one of Bristol’s best-known brands while admiring one of its best-known landmarks: the Clifton Suspension Bridge…

Choose from a Moo, Matador, Chicken of Aragon or Heidi pie (check the Pieminister website for descriptions!), served seven days a week from the hut on the terrace, subject to weather conditions. A pie, buttery mash and gravy costs just £8.50 – or pay an extra 95p and enjoy a portion of mushy peas too! 🙂 In addition, every Heidi pie sold will see £1 donated to Bristol & South Gloucester Young Carers.

If pies aren’t your thing, then the hotel’s Bridge Cafe has other offers currently available that may appeal. A late lunch/early supper menu runs from Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 7pm, offering diners 2 courses for £9.95, or 3 courses for £11.95. In addition, there’s also a current offer for 25% off a la carte dining which runs until May 29th between 7pm and 10pm daily – click here to download your voucher and see the restrictions. With dishes including starters such as baked Cornish scallops with garlic butter and a Parmesan crust, and mains such as pan roasted lamb rump with minted mash and port jus, it’d be rude not to…

  1. It's great to see small businesses taking off. I first experienced a pieminister pie at the 2000 trees festival in 2010. I have to admit, they are amazing!

    Great post, thanks.
