Great news for Clifton Village’s Arch House Deli, who have recently been announced as the South West Deli Of The Year in the Deli Of The Year Awards! Owners David Greenman and Debbie Atherton can now add this honour to an impressive list of awards (“Discover The Origin” award from Speciality Food Magazine in 2009, British Cheese Awards “Best New Deli” in 2007, “Best New Cheese Retailer” runner up in 2010) and will now go through to the finals in a big to become Deli Of The Year 2011…

Judging was carried out by a panel of experts from across the food industry, including buyers, retailers and journalists. 400 nominations were whittled down to a list of over 120, with regional finalists announced on June 17th after much deliberation.

Artisan food producer Olives Et Al are the brains behind the competition, aiming to raise the awareness of delis everywhere, and helping them to get real feedback from their customers.

Says David Greenman of Arch House Deli, “We are all really excited at being chosen as the top deli in the South West. There are so many great delis in the South West, I’m sure it must have been a difficult decision for the judges. It’s really rewarding to get this recognition for the work the team at Arch House Deli have been doing over the last 18 months in creating the type of deli we believe the people of Bristol want and deserve.”

“During the voting stage it was fantastic to get such great feedback about our use of local products, the focus we put on tasting events and on adding an element of fun into the deli and café. Our diverse range of foods designed to cater for food intolerances and allergies was also mentioned and perhaps most notable was the fantastic feedback we received on the team at Arch House Deli and their knowledge and friendliness.”

Arch House Deli now go forward to the UK finals as the South West’s regional winner, with the last stage of the competition taking place in London on September 5th. Congratulations to David and Debbie, and best of luck in the finals!
