Bristol’s new cocktail bar: The Milk Thistle

Sep 11, 2011 #Hyde & Co #Milk Thistle
Spread the love

Officially opened on Friday, September 9th. Brought to you by the people behind Hyde & Co. on the Triangle. The Milk Thistle offers a similar air of intrigue and mystery…

Head to the beautiful four-floored Grade II listed building in the centre of Bristol, ring the doorbell to be shown in, and you’ll be greeted by a beautiful wood panelled room on the ground floor, filled with all manner of curios and a very well-stocked bar…

It’s the little touches that make this place special: water and pretzels brought to the table free of charge, the drinks menus (cocktails, world beers, cider, Luscombe soft drinks…) listed in old books, tea lights in beautiful china cups…

…head upstairs and you’ll find the lounge, available for members, serving old fashioned and stirred cocktails from a separate bar…

…and on the top floor, a private function room available for parties, and maybe even supper clubs in the future.

In the basement, the restrooms, decorated in a similarly quirky style…

…and “The Vault”, soon to be home to a wine cellar and a private tasting room…

Membership is available (but only for 100 people), and anything from one room to the entire venue can be hired out for private functions.

The most exciting new bar opening in Bristol for a long time. A venue full of mystery and intrigue. I’m saying no more. It’s far more exciting to visit the place and experience it for yourself…

  1. hmmm, wondering if I might just visit this place in early October – reminds me of a cool place in Manhattan I went to many moons ago. Did you get my email asking you if you know of Chin Chin on St Michael's Hill? What do you think of it?

    1. I did indeed…and thought I'd replied, sorry Kate! I do know Chin Chin – we do a pub quiz on Wednesday nights on the same road and have been to Chin Chin a few times for pre-quiz food. Very enjoyable – and they do a fantastic Sunday roast too…
