The full Sunday Times Food List – listing the top 100 restaurants in Britain – will be published this Sunday, October 30th…but we can give you a sneak preview of the top 5 restaurants in the South West!

Compiled for the Sunday Times by Harden’s, The List is based on more than 80,000 restaurant reports submitted by over 8,000 people. While the rankings are based solely on the food the restaurants serve, ratings for ambience were used in the event of a tie.

With an average score of 9.74 out of 10, Michael Caines’ Gidleigh Park was rated the best restaurant for food in the South West. Second in the local list is Restaurant Nathan Outlaw at The St Enodoc Hotel in Rock, followed closely by The Dining Room at Whatley Manorin Easton Gray, Wiltshire.

The Sunday Times Food List for the South West:

1. Gidleigh Park, Chagford:                     9.74

2. Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, Rock:      9.53

3. Whatley Manor, Easton Gray:            9.50

4. Seafood Restaurant, Padstow:             9.32

5. Bath Priory Hotel, Bath:                      9.27

Karen Robinson, Editor of The Sunday Times Food List, says “We’re delighted for everyone that made the list.  It’s a great achievement as The Food List is the ultimate taste test.  It represents the views of the food-loving public rather than a clique of food critics or anonymous restaurant inspectors telling us where to go and spend our money.”

The full Sunday Times Food List, listing the top 100 restaurants in Britain, will be published in The Sunday Times on October 30.  This, together with the next 100 rated restaurants, will also appear online on Sunday October 30 (from 0001) at http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/thefoodlist.
