The MashUp Gourmet Pie Co. is the latest brain-child of James Purslow and Alex Tristram, who received the UWE BizIdea award in May 2010 for their venture. Having appeared at BrisFest, Festival of Nature, Nation Garden
Festival and Alex James’ Harvest, they offer a new way of ‘eating on the go’, serving their pies in a cylindrical container with the mash and extras scooped on top.
The company is Bristol-based and uses locally sourced ingredients in the following pies, which appear on the Deli Delish MashUp menu:
- Henrietta: chicken, cured bacon and caramelised leeks
- Harold: grilled halloumi and Moroccan spiced beans
- Daisy: British beef, Bristol Beer Factory ale, portobello mushrooms and a pinch of tarragon
- Barbara: British lamb, fresh garden mint and roast pumpkin
MashUp will soon be unveiling a range of Christmas specials, including a delicious-sounding turkey, chestnut and cranberry offering – along with the “Mix n Mash” – a daily optional extra on the mash flavours such as English mustard, sweet potato, harissa and Cheddar.
Kate from Deli Delish says of MashUp Pies, “I just thought they were a great, well made and tasty offering but also, it’s a really neat way to eat a pie and mash meal. We’re also a good match in terms of size and our outlook on quality food.”
Says James, of MashUp, “I can’t wait to get selling from an outlet such as Deli Delish. We’re confident we’ve got the flavours and pies just right and think this concept will go down a storm with the Deli’s regulars and attract new ones. Just like the festivals, people want something hearty and filling in the winter months and with our service method it just makes lunch time a little bit easier.”
The pies are available at Deli Delish, open Monday – Friday, from now until February.
