Sandwich fans rejoice! Bristol now has a brand new lunch option which promises far, far more than the supermarket sandwich options that so many people rely on.

Meat And Bread is the brainchild of Ben Warran, a graduate in Culinary Arts Management with an illustrious career background that includes working in one and two Michelin Starred restaurants, as well as a head chef role at a 2 AA Rosette restaurant.

“I have always had an obsession with meat and preserving it”, says Ben, “and a deep love for sandwiches, so I thought why not put my skills as a chef to use in making sandwiches.”

Meat And Bread is a travelling business that will be popping up all over Bristol’s city centre, thanks to Ben’s decision to use an American street cart to sell his wares. Ben’s offering also stands out by virtue of the fact that so many of his ingredients are homemade. “Apart from the bread (which is sourced locally)”, says Ben, “I make all the ingredients myself. I cure and smoke all my own meats as well as making my own sauces, mustards and pickles.”

The menu certainly looks amazing, with almost a BBQ feel to much of it…

I’m not sure which one I’ll be trying first, but I’ll certainly be heading over to see Ben on Monday, when you’ll be able to find him “at the far side of the Hippodrome fountains at the corner of Anchor Road near the Harbourside.”

To keep track of where Ben will be each day, follow him on Twitter, or visit the Meat And Bread Facebook page. I’m really looking forward to giving them a go!
