Previously home to Koi nightclub, 13-15 King Street in the city centre is currently being given a new lease of life and will reopen as Kongs of King Street in late October 2014.

New owners Toby and Max first met while working in a cocktail bar in Cheltenham over 10 years ago. Since then, the pair have been working in the bar industry in various capacities across Bristol, Nottingham and Cheltenham, and in 2011, the decision to join forces came about.

The concept that the pair have created is Kongs of King Street: a brand new independent bar whose format was born from Toby and Max’ experience in the bar industry. They have handpicked the aspects of various bars they’ve worked in that they’ve loved, and will be bringing them together in one single space.

King Street was chosen because of its great independent bar scene – which will hopefully be added to with the launch of the new venture. Punters should expect a comfortable, industrial space, complete not only with quality food, drink and music, but also ping pong and retro arcade games.

Says Toby, “The project has been a big challenge for us but with the help of some really talented people it’s all coming together… I hope the people of Bristol will be as excited about the place as we are!”

To stay up to date with the pair’s progress, visit their website, follow them on Twitter or Instagram or find them on Facebook.
