Master butchers at Puxton Park will be teaching the art of sausage making to join in with British Sausage Week celebrations.

British Sausage Week is an annual celebration of the taste, quality and diversity of the traditional pork sausage, and runs throughout this week until November 9.

At the last count there were over 470 varieties available in Britain and Puxton’s butchers aim to add to that by creating some uniquely flavoured sausages for British Sausage Week.

During the weekend of November 8 and 9, the master butchers will showcase their top sausages and create some new flavours to tantalise the taste buds of the park’s visitors.

Visitors will also be able to get involved by taking part in behind the scenes tours of the butchery and make sausages under the guidance of head sausage maker, Phill Windridge.

Meadows Tea Rooms and Restaurant will also be serving up sizzling sausage and mash and BBQ hot dogs to give everyone the chance to try the new flavours.

As the event falls on Remembrance Sunday, it will be day to remember with FREE poppy face painting and free entry to all Scouts, Beavers, Cubs, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides in uniform and members of the armed forces wearing their medals.

Head of Park, Sarah Warren, said: “We are offering double the fun firstly to honour Remembrance Sunday and secondly to join in with British Sausage Week.

“Our master butchers are looking forward to showcasing the wonderful art of sausage making and inspiring some youngsters to choose a career in butchery.”
