Cider and Sausage Festival

Bristol Cider Shop is toasting the success of the fifth annual Cider & Sausage Festival, which took place over the weekend. The event saw a record number of people get through over 2,000 sausages and 3,000 pints of cider.

There were over 50 varieties of cider and perry on offer, plus 12 different sausages, and festival goers were asked to vote for their favourites. The votes have now been counted and the results are in.

Best Cider: National Treasure, Blaengawney Cider, South Wales
Best Perry: Oliver’s Perry, Herefordshire
Best Sausage: Pork, Apple & Cider, Gales Farm Meats
Best Vegetarian Sausage: Cauliflower & Cheddar with Truffle Oil, Good Life

This is the first year that the event has been held at the Trinity Centre and the change of venue proved very popular, with tickets selling out in record time. The increase in size did bring some logistical issues however and Bristol College had to come to the rescue with a team of catering students to help prepare over 2,000 sausages for the BBQ!

Music is a big part of the festival and this year all of the bands were organised by Bristol Festival Community Group (the team behind Brisfest) who also supplied volunteers to decorate the venue and manage the stage.

Pete Snowman, who organised the event, said “We really enjoyed working with the Brisfest team. They brought their own expertise and energy to the event and made it so much more than the sum of its parts.”

The dates for next year’s festival have already been confirmed as Friday 29th April – Sunday 1st May and tickets will be on sale soon.

  1. So gutted that all except 2 of the 10 meat sausages were sold out by the Sunday evening session but the impressive 50+ ciders and perries more than made up for it! Would definitely go again.
