Wapping Wharf – the new development on Bristol’s Harbourside near M Shed – has confirmed that Small Street Espresso is the first retailer to be confirmed for the site.

The original Small Street Espresso on Small Street in the city centre (review here) opened in 2012 and has become a seriously popular spot since then. Owned by John Drysdale and Chris Chubb, the second site will offer “something a bit different, with its own feel”, but will still retain some elements for which Small Street Espresso has become known.

The new site will also have a new name (still to be confirmed) and will be double the size of the Small Street venue: expect seating for 25 people, espresso and filter blends roasted by Clifton Coffee, and the same great partnership with Hart’s Bakery who will be providing bread and pastries for the new coffee shop. There will also be a shop where customers can buy coffees to brew at home, and the staff will be able to give expert advice on coffee selection and brewing techniques.

John says: “We’re very excited to have the opportunity to be part of this new Bristol neighbourhood with a strong community focus and independent feel. We’re looking forward to bringing our unique coffee experience to the harbourside and meeting lots of new customers from the Wapping Wharf neighbourhood and beyond for their morning coffee hit as they walk to work.

“Our venture at Wapping Wharf will have a different style to Small Street Espresso but with the same atmosphere and high quality of specialist coffee. Our aim is for our new café to be welcoming to anyone and everyone with the option to really embrace our rich coffee offering for those who want to.”

The Wapping Wharf development will feature a variety of shops, restaurants and more – keep your eyes peeled for more to be announced in due course!
