From 8am on Friday 27 November, Pieminister’s flagship restaurant on Stokes Croft will be transformed into a Free Pie Pop-up Shop. They’ll be turning Black Friday into Black Pieday – giving Bristolians the chance to pick up pies for free in return for donations to Shelter.

They’ll be giving away hundreds of award-winning pies, with every single penny that is donated going to the housing and homelessness charity.

These free pies are a range of Pieminister’s classics that have been frozen to avoid any wastage. Pieminister pies are sold fresh, but if they ever have a batch of surplus pies, they are frozen in order that they can be redistributed for special events or good causes at a later date.

Pieminister Co-founder and MD Jon Simon says, ’Whether in a commercial or domestic kitchen, we all need to think about how we can make sure good food doesn’t go to waste and this is a chance for pie-lovers to see that a well-made pie tastes great, regardless of whether or not it’s been in the freezer first.

“We know lots of people are gearing up for a spending spree on Friday 27 November and giving a little of it to Shelter in return for delicious pies is a no-brainer. Our pop-up shop opens early at 8am so you can get your pies on your way to work or as you head to the shops. And we’ll stay open until at least 10am so you can nip out of the office to get some for your colleagues for lunch too. We’ll have free range British chicken pies, beef pies and Vegetarian Society Approved pies to choose from so get to Stokes Croft early for the best selection because once they’re gone, they’re gone!”
