Pi Shop opens July 21st – A preview…

Spread the love

Pi Shop - Exterior

Thursday, July 21st is the official opening date for Pi Shop – a new pizza restaurant in the old General Hospital on Lower Guinea Street, brought to us by the team behind Michelin-starred Casamia. You can read our original post about the 40-seat pizzeria here – but last night, we were lucky enough to be invited to the venue’s launch event to get a sneak preview of what it’s all about. We were impressed.

Despite the interior being packed full, it’s still got a lovely light and roomy feel to it, thanks to the white walls and the light colour of the tables. One section of the dining area is semi-outside, while the fantastic pizza oven (which you can just about see behind the picture of the chefs below) is the focal point of the restaurant.

There’s also a fantastic outdoor dining area with great views over the Bathurst Basin…

The evening was also a great chance to have a peek at the menu, with pizzas very reasonably priced. There is a £30 option on there, though, if you go for the 36-month aged Parmesan and black truffle pizza…

We also had a chance to sample some of the pizza – my favourite on the night was the JR, topped with black olives, basil and anchovies. There’s a wealth of options available – proper sloppy pizzas that are more of a knife and fork job than designed to eat with the hands…

Full review coming soon! Pi Shop is open from the evening of Thursday, July 21st – it’s not possible to book a table in advance, but based on what we’ve seen so far, we’ll certainly be heading back soon!
