London-based Colombian street food business Maize Blaze has been invited to take over the kitchen at Corner 77 on July 14th and 15th.

Maize Blaze launched in 2014 in Camden Market, and later branched out into events, festivals and private catering. It’s the brainchild of Ruth Christianson, whose upbringing in Colombia’s Bogota and her formal culinary training have created a truly popular street food brand.

For two days only, she’ll be bringing her modern, contemporary Colombian cuisine to Stokes Croft, taking over the kitchen at Corner 77.

Ruth uses the freshest ingredients from local suppliers to create dishes that are vibrant and satisfying – and 100% gluten-free. She says, “Being invited to work with the Season and Taste team on their new project, Corner 77, is very exciting for us. The Bristol food scene is flourishing and it’s a great honour to become part of it by introducing our homegrown Colombian belly fillers.”

For the weekend of July 14th and 15th, Bristol will be introduced to a bespoke brunch menu created just for the event. The menu will include dishes like Bandeja Paisa – a Colombian version of a fry-up with chorizo, steak, black pudding, fried eggs, red beans, avocado, plantains and mini arepas. Alternatively, try the Cabeza de Gato, a grilled hash made with green plantains, sweet potato, roasted red peppers, onion and corn bread chunks. There are vegetarian and vegan options available, and every single dish is guaranteed to be gluten-free.
