Bocabar is set to expand once more, when it opens its new venue at exciting new social hotspot Finzels Reach this September.

Melissa and Paul Eavis started the Bocabar business 15 years ago, and have existing sites both at Paintworks and in Glastonbury. Their new Finzels Reach premises will be on the ground floor of the site’s historic Fermentation Buildings, below what will be Channel 4’s new Creative Hub in Bristol. It’ll open out onto Hawkins Lane – the new walkway that runs through the centre of Finzels Reach.

It’ll be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the menus including 25 different stone-baked pizzas, along with sharing mezze plates, gourmet burgers, and daily specials that focus on small, local suppliers and seasonal ingredients. The venue will be open seven days a week and will have an eclectic look: think velvet door drapes, vintage lamps and reclaimed copper and wood features. The new Bocabar will also have a part-covered outdoor seating area that will seat 70 people.

Melissa Eavis says: “We are hugely excited about joining the FinzelsReach community, which is fast emerging as a fantastic new quarter for the city. It’s a great fit for our business as we love the combination of historic and new architecture, giving the area its own unique character, combined with the fact it’s in an excellent location right in the heart of the city.

“We’ll be spending lots of time at Bocabar Finzels Reach to ensure we respond to people’s feedback and that the offer is something that appeals to those who live and work in, as well as visit this thriving new area. We are very hands-on, so we are looking forward to getting stuck in and creating something really special at our new site.”

And they’ll be in good company, too. By the end of the year, around 2,500 people will be living and working at Finzels Reach, which will feature new homes, unique workspace, a hotel and leisure space and its weekly food market. Having previously been closed to the public for over 200 years, Finzels Reach is starting to flourish once again: Cafe Matariki is already well established, Spicer+Cole are now in, and Mission Pizza and Left Handed Giant are also getting ready to open this summer.

Finzels Reach is hotting up to be one of Bristol’s newest destinations…exciting times!
