This July, one of London’s top whisky bars is opening its first premises outside the capital on Bristol’s Marsh Street – and it looks pretty amazing.

Black Rock Bristol will be opening in a former barristers’ chambers on Marsh Street, occupying the ground floor and basement. And work’s already well underway.

One major talking point of Black Rock will be a 216-year old oak tree that’s been carefully manoeuvred into place on one wall. Why? Because it’ll be a seriously novel way of housing and ageing 20 litres at a time of their signature whisky cocktail, which Bristolians will be able to enjoy on tap.

Their London bar offers over 250 different whiskies from across the globe, and we’re expecting more of the same when Black Rock opens here. Enjoy your choice of dram neat or on the rocks, or opt for one of a short list of cocktails. And if you get peckish, there will be a kitchen on-site…and if the offering is anything like the London bar, they’ll be serving up “scran” to include oysters (raw or cooked), veggie haggis balls, Scotch eggs and gravadlax.

Their original bar was crowned the UK’s Best Specialist Bar at the Class Bar Awards in both 2017 and 2018, and Best Single Focus Bar in the Time Out London Bar Awards in 2017. Bristol’s developed a great reputation for its bar offering, so it’s sure to be a hit!

Follow the Black Rock team’s progress on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter ahead of their opening.
