With coronavirus fears and cases growing by the day, it’s a tough time for all of us. And with “social distancing” now becoming the norm, many of Bristol’s food and drink businesses are seeing huge drops in custom.

It’s vital that we support our small independent businesses to help them to flourish – but if you don’t want to go out for a meal or a drink at the present time, what can you do?

One answer is to use the new Indie Kitty initiative from Wriggle, which launched this week.

The aim of Indie Kitty is to allow consumers to pledge extra support to independent businesses in their city – including Bristol – by purchasing vouchers that will tide businesses over through the challenge of the coming months.

These vouchers are available in amounts ranging from £5 to £40. Funds generated from these vouchers will be forwarded directly to the venues, with Wriggle waiving their fees for each voucher transaction. Customers can then redeem their vouchers against menu items and drinks at a future time (dependent on venue).

CEO of Wriggle, Rob Hall, commented, “The next few months are going to be very challenging for everyone – not least our partner restaurants. We hope that this Indie Kitty campaign can pull people together to support great small businesses and ensure they survive this period.”

Want to get involved? Visit the Wriggle website, where you’ll see Indie Kitty offers listed amongst their regular offers.

Wriggle will initially launch this with existing partner establishments – but is inviting other restaurants who are struggling with the current events to get in touch via email on partnerships@getawriggleon.com or call 0117 325 8535. The scheme is operating in Bristol, Bath, Brighton and Hove, Birmingham and Cardiff.
