Bread subscription service Good In Bread now in Bristol

Bread subscription service Good In Bread, launched in London in June 2020, is now available for sourdough lovers in BS1 to BS9 postcode areas in Bristol.

French-American founder Emily Caron is encouraging Bristolians to “share the loaf” and choose her sourdough loaves, baked in North West London using artisan methods. Each loaf can either be sliced to fit through a standard letterbox or delivered as a whole loaf.

Each loaf is made from 100% natural ingredients and organic flours, has a longer shelf life than store-bought equivalents, and is, on average, a third larger than standard store loaves too.

Good In Bread’s Emily Caron says, “I’m thrilled that we’re introducing our Sourdough loaves to postcodes in Bristol – a city known for its smorgasbord of unpretentious and delicious dining experiences.  We are ensuring that Bristol foodies can always have fresh and yummy bread at home, and all our loaves are made from the finest organic flours and natural sourdough leavens.  The long cool fermentation ensures that our breads are a cut above the rest when it comes to the best and most comforting flavours, aromas and textures.  Good in Bread is bringing artisan sourdough to more and more postcodes in time for picnic season and beyond.”

The latest loaf to be delivered is the wholewheat “A Whole Lotta Loaf”: 60% organic wholewheat flour, 10% stoneground white flour and 30% white flour. The white flours, she says, give a lightness and fluffier texture, while the wholewheat offers richer and earthier undertones. She recommends pairing it with anything from salted butter or smoked fish and avocado to a citrus orange marmalade or acidic raspberry jam.

Other loaves that have been distributed to doorsteps include the ‘nutty but nice’ Hazelnut & Cranberry Sourdough, the Nordic Rye with sunflower seeds and rye flakes, the ‘Labour of Loaf’ with its dark woody crust and the Seeded ‘Eat Pray Loaf’ full of Omega 3s.

Visit their website to learn more about the Good In Bread offering – you’ll be able to choose from a one-off bread box delivery or a weekly subscription, either for yourself or as a gift for a loved one. Each bundle also includes a custom reusable linen loaf bag for storing your bread. Prices start from £6.50 for a once-weekly delivery of a single loaf, and from £12 a week for one of their bundles.

What’s more, all of their packaging materials are eco-friendly: bread is shipped in 100% recyclable cardboard, while their freezer-friendly slice pouches are made from 100% biodegradable “plastic”. Deliveries are by bicycle on Tuesdays and Fridays, and orders can be placed up to 48 business hours before your preferred delivery date.
