On the former site of The Penny pub on Whiteladies Road in Clifton, you’ll now find The Whitmore Tap – the very first taproom offering from Butcombe Brewing Co.

Opened on Wednesday, May 19th, The Whitmore Tap is named after Butcombe’s founder, Simon Whitmore, and served the full range of Butcombe cask, keg and bottled beers and cider, as well as some exciting seasonal beers and small-batch brews.

Downstairs in the street-level bar you’ll find upholstered booths, high tables and stools, and decor that combines natural materials such as stripped wood, leather and glass with intimate lighting, eclectic artwork and plenty of greenery. In the downstairs bar, the food menu focuses on innovative bar snacks, small plates, sharing boards and yakitori skewers.

There’s also an upstairs dining room with views over Bristol, and plenty of natural light thanks to the roof lanterns that illuminates a massive Blackbeard mural on the wall. The upstairs room is available for private hire, meetings and events, and also serves as the taproom’s dining room. Here, the menu is all about local and seasonal produce, all designed to celebrate Butcombe’s drinks range and created in a Robata charcoal grill and open kitchen.
