Food Connections, the unique, city-wide festival which aims to connect people with good food is making its return, taking place in Bristol from April 28th to 7th May 2016.

Food Connections aspires to celebrate, inspire and educate, showcasing the wealth of good food projects, restaurants and retailers across the city, and encouraging people to think about the importance of where their food comes from. Visitors can expect a diverse programme of events, with a hub of activity in Bristol city centre featuring guest-speakers, debates, practical workshops and an ‘edible education’ outdoor classroom for schools. The Food Connections Fringe will add over 100 more events in communities across the city, with something to suit everyone.

Food Connections will launch on April 28th with the “Oscars of the food world” – BBC Radio 4’s prestigious Food and Farming Awards. The awards have taken place in Bristol for the previous two years and they return as part of Food Connections in 2016, highlighting the BBC’s commitment to celebrating our unique food culture.

There’s also a brand new organising committee and festival manager in place for this year’s event.

New board members of the Bristol Food Network include, Martin Orbach – who co-founded Abergavenny Food Festival – one of the UK’s best-known food events. His wealth of experience and expertise has seen Abergavenny grow into an award-winning festival, celebrating the craft, diversity and culture of food from across the country.

Aine Morris takes on the role of Festival Manager for 2016. Aine was involved with Food Connections in 2015, and comes from her role as Head of Communications for the Sustainable Food Trust. She has also worked previously on both the Organic Food Festival and Slow Food’s Terra Madre conference in Italy. Former festival manager Lorna Knapman is stepping down to pursue other projects.
