Those of you who know me “in real life” will know that I moved from being a permanent employee to becoming self-employed about three years ago. In some ways, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made: I get to be my own boss, choose my own hours – even meet up with friends for coffee, breakfast or lunch without keeping an eye on the clock. I can work on a variety of different projects, either from the comfort of my sofa or sitting in a coffee shop with free WiFi, and I can choose which work I do and which I decline.

Sounds idyllic, doesn’t it? There ARE negatives, though.

I’m constantly chasing clients for invoices that haven’t been paid. My earnings can vary massively from one month to the next, meaning that it’s often touch or go as to whether I can pay bills on time. I have to file tax returns and pay tax bills (which feels way too grown up), and you’ll often find me working in the evenings and at weekends when I’ve got a lot going on.

Not so idyllic now, right?

The last month’s erred more on the stressful side than the idyllic side, for reasons I won’t go into. And I’m one of those people who tends to stress-eat – which is even easier to do when I work from the home and have the kitchen in plain view at all times…

BUT…I’m also on a weight loss mission (at the time of writing I’d lost 2 stone 11 pounds in 2016), so I’m being sensible and reaching for healthy snacks such as chopped veg, hardboiled eggs and fruit instead of all the…well, the tasty stuff!

I’m also a smoker, and have been since I was 15. When I have stressful periods like this, I tend to smoke more as it calms me down.

And that’s where e-cigs come in. I don’t want to be smoking more cigarettes when I’m stressed – it’s expensive, and it wastes more time (I don’t smoke in the flat) – time which I really can’t afford to waste when I’m this busy! During the day, I’m using my blu PRO kit™, which I’ve recently purchased.

Priced at £19.99, the blu PRO kit includes a top-filling clearomiser (tank), a rechargeable battery, a USB charging cable and a bottle of tobacco-flavoured e-liquid. It’s really good value for money – and first class postage meant that it arrived the day after ordering.

While I charged the battery, I filled the tank with the e-liquid – unlike other e-cig brands I’ve tried, it’s really easy to fill without spilling or ending up with the liquid in the central chamber, which is a big no-no – you really don’t want that liquid in your mouth before it’s been turned to vapour…

The battery takes around 3 hours to charge fully, and seems to last a while after it’s been charged too. After charging, it’s simply a case of screwing the tank onto the battery, and it’s ready to go.

It’s perfect for busy, stressful work times – it offers a lovely smooth, long vape, a great taste, and the throat hit that I, as a smoker, need. It means I can still get my nicotine without having to take time out of work – I can use it indoors while tapping away at my laptop and make the best use of my time.

My blu PRO kit has certainly made a difference to my productivity (and my bank balance!!) at stressful times. Let me know if you have any experiences with blu e-Cigs – I’m interested to hear how they’ve worked for others!
