Bristol Oktoberfest, September 1st – 4th

Spread the love

From 1st – 4th September on Millennium Square, expect plenty of fresh German beer, tasty food and a party atmosphere at the grand Oktoberfest comes to town.

“The mood at our event is as good as the one in Munich.”, said Carsten Raun, Festival Director. “One thing the British and the German have in common is the joy of life with a nice beer, so Oktoberfest is a perfect place to meet.”

Bristol’s Oktoberfest will take place in a giant marquee with a capacity of 1,500. Long rows of tables and benches will fill the tent, which will be decorated in blue and white. There will be live music from a German band, and while the event is 18+, kids are allowed to join on Sunday for a special Bavarian Lunch and activities such as face painting.

Of course, Oktoberfest isn’t Oktoberfest without Lederhosen and Dirndl, so all of the serving staff will be dressed in this traditional attire.

The beer on offer, Bavarian Festbeer, is a German beer (ABV 5%) brewed according to German purity law: a dark golden lager which offers a touch of sweetness and a strong yet slightly bitter hoppy aftertaste. Transported in a 20,000-litre tank, the beer will come fresh from the brewery in Bavaria.

Food-wise, expect German specialities such as Schnitzel (deep-fried pork cutlet), prezel (twist-knot bread), Händel (grilled chicken) and Schweinebraten (roast pork). There will also be a vegetarian option available. On Sunday, a Bavarian lunch will be prepared for families to enjoy together.

Bristol Oktoberfest is open from September 1st to 4th at Millennium Square. Entrance is free on Thursday and Sunday, £5 on Friday and £6 on Saturday. The event is 18+, except on the Sunday when kids are allowed to get in for free. Tickets can be purchased via the festival’s website.
