Tsukemono announce seasonal Japanese feasts at Hart's Bakery

Bristol’s popular Japanese street food outfit, Tsukemono, is now setting its sights on the supper club scene, after two years of pop-ups and markets.

June 2nd will mark the start of Tsukemono’s “seasonal feasts” at Hart’s Bakery, celebrating Japanese food with a focus on local and seasonal produce.

Founder Iris Hable says, “We’ve wanted to do this since we first started Tsukemono two years ago. The seasonal feasts will be a celebration of everything we love about Japanese food. This is a chance for us to push boundaries and have fun.”

The summer edition of the Tsukemono supper club, on June 2nd, will feature a multi-course menu that will cater for ethical omnivores and vegans alike. It’ll include dishes like Kushikatsu – which they describe as “a deep-fried delight on a skewer and staple of Osaka’s street-food scene”. There will also be mackerel sashimi – plus a vegan sashimi consisting of seaweed-cured heritage carrot – as well as Kakigori, a Japanese shaved ice dessert flavoured with an exciting range of syrups.

But there’s also something else on offer, too…Tsukemono’s Adam Harshorne is a trained printmaker, and he’s created a series of limited edition prints that supper club diners can take away as keepsakes.

He says, “I’ve always been fascinated by the rich history of Japanese printmaking. The prints, like the food, are inspired by the seasons. Both are really transient experiences and we hope we can provide people with something memorable.” And if you can make it to all four supper clubs, that’s four different prints you’ll be able to take home and keep.

The Tsukemono supper clubs will be BYO to keep costs low, with pairing recommendations set to be released shortly before each event. All four of the supper clubs will take place at Hart’s Bakery: summer on June 2nd, autumn on September 8th, Winter on December 8th, and spring on March 29th, 2020.

Tickets are now on sale for all four seasonal feasts via Eventbrite – click to secure yours now!
