St Pirans Day Pasties (Small)

Local biscuit bakers Mullion Cove will be celebrating St Piran’s Day again this year by baking a range of Cornish speciality foods and selling them on their stall at Whiteladies Road Market, Bristol on Saturday 2 March.

St Piran’s Day, named after the patron saint of Cornwall, is celebrated every year on the 5th  March by the people of Cornwall, with regional Cornish food and drink being at the heart of the celebrations.

Mullion Cove has been making Cornish ginger biscuits known as Cornish fairings for over 3 years. They now produce over 7 different flavoured fairings and shortbreads supplying over 8 outlets in Bristol and Bath with their traditional biscuits.

Customers to Whiteladies Road Market can expect a selection of lovingly made Cornish traditional foods including freshly baked Cornish pasties, saffron buns, heavy cake, scones and Belgium dark chocolate dipped crystalised ginger fairings.

Mullion Cove director Sophie Bowden said:

“By celebrating St Piran’s Day it means we can enhance our Cornish product range and bring a sense of occasion to our market stall. We also love talking to our customers about the history behind Cornish foods. Not everyone knows that Cornish pasties used to have meat in one end and a sweet dessert in the other or that a Cornish tin miner never ate his crusts!”

Come and see Sophie on the market stall to find our more about Cornish food and try some of her Cornish specialities made using some secret family recipes!
